4WD Tread Patterns.
Depending on where you take your 4WD and how often you do will depend on the type of tread pattern that will be best suited to you. When using your vehicle off road two of the most common 4WD tread patterns are: A/T (All Terrain Tyres).
A generally hard working tyre that performs well in both the dry and the wet. With multifaceted tread blocks these tyres will help deliver the best grip in in any direction in the wet, on gravel and dirt trails.
The Mud-Terrain tyre performs best in muddy conditions and when tackling softer terrains. With the more widely spread tread pattern it has the ability to grip in the slipperiest conditions.
Highway Terrain tyres are generally recommended for drivers that spend minimal time off road. HT Tyres will generally be fitted to newer compact 4WDs. Highway Terrain Tyres are designed to offer the best on road travel conditions for a 4WD. With good comfort, low road noise, good freeway speed and durability. If you’re looking to do a bit more off-roading then it is suggested to replace these with either a A/T or M/T tread pattern.
