Eco-Friendly Tyres
Save up to $120 per year by using these new technology tyres…
We’ve all heard of eco-friendly, green products but most people won’t have realised that they tyre industry is already at the forefront of design in Ecologically-friendly tyres which provide a low rolling resistant and fuel saving abilities.
Whatever name they’re known by, Eco-friendly tyres were developed for one reason: to reduce fuel consumption without affecting performance or grip and up until recently it’s been a tall order to produce such a tyre. This is where technology has stepped in and solved the problem with a new compound: Silica
It works like this.
By lowering rolling resistance, the amount of energy a tyre absorbs as it turns this reduces the amount of energy needed to move the car therefore, reducing fuel consumption. It’s basic Newtonian physics, less resistance in, less fuel required. However for the best grip, a compound is required which absorbs high levels of energy. By introducing silica into the tyre compound, manufacturers can now produce a single tyre which can absorb different amounts of energy at different frequencies for fuel consumption and grip.
What it means to you and I is our tyres are perhaps 20% more efficient, saving us money through additional tyres and fuel costs.
During a promotion in the UK the Michelin Energy tyre claimed that it would save $120 a year for the average motorist, a figure which covers the increased cost of the tyres over their lifetime.
Eco-tyres currently on the market that Darra Tyres sell are:
