Earthmoving Tyres

Working on the toughest environments on the planet is hard, getting the right tyres for your vehicles is easy. Find out how…

Every OTR and earthmoving vehicle in your fleet is going to be operating on different surfaces and completing different jobs, different hours of use, carrying varying amounts of weight and a number of other important factors that need to be considered when selecting the right tyre.

It’s all about application when it comes to choosing the right tyre for your L2 all the way to your E5. There will be certain factors that will impact upon which tyre is most suitable for you and your vehicle. The general weight that the vehicle will be carrying will help to determine the star or ply rating that the vehicle needs. How far the load will be carried, and of course the surface on which the load will be driven across.

How do I know what tyres are going to suit certain surfaces?

Before we can decide what tyre is right for you we need to find out the surface that the vehicle will be working on. Different MPa levels of the soil will help us to determine what type of tyre is necessary. The MPa level of the soil basically tells us how hard the ground is that the vehicle will be driving on.

Different tread patterns will perform better on certain surfaces, again depending on the application of the tyre. Finding the right tyre for the right environment is the key to decreasing the vehicles downtime and improving productivity.

Radial or Bias Tyres?

A radial tyre will typically last longer than a Bias Ply tyre. Radials offer lower fuel consumption, better traction and flotation and improved cut resistance in the tread area, and run much cooler than bias. Although a radial tyre will be more expensive in the beginning, the cost over the lifetime of the tyre will be lower than that of a bias ply tyre. Typically they offer longer tread wear and a smoother ride.

Why looking after your tyres is so important…

A poorly maintained tyre will severely affect both your machine and your business. Mistreated tyres can lead to downtime from punctures, bursts, damaged machines, injuries to employees and damaged loads.

But by taking a few simple steps to maintaining your tyres you can decrease downtime, increase the life of your machine, and avoid dropped loads and protect your drivers.

Darra Tyres mobile fleet service will come to you on-site to regularly check your tyre pressure, refill if necessary and perform a complete visual inspection of the tyres. We take the extra time and effort to ensure the safety of your business and its employees.
